CAPE program-level requirements

CAPE Program-Level Requirements define the minimum number and type of activities CPD participants must complete each year in key priority areas.

These requirements apply to all CPD participants and sit across the CPD Program, regardless of how or where activities are undertaken.

Mandatory CAPE requirements

To meet annual CPD requirements, CPD participants must complete:

• Two activities focused on cultural safety and addressing health inequities
• Two activities focused on professionalism and ethical practice

These activities are mandatory and must be completed each CPD year.

CPD participants are encouraged to undertake more than the minimum number of CAPE-focused activities where relevant to their scope of practice.

How CAPE activities can be completed

CAPE-focused activities may be undertaken across different CPD categories.

Activities that meet CAPE requirements can be completed within:

• Educational activities
• Reviewing performance
• Measuring outcomes

This flexibility allows CPD participants to integrate CAPE requirements into a broader CPD plan that reflects their professional practice.

How recognition supports CAPE planning

A key purpose of the Recognition & Assessment Framework is to support you to know in advance whether an activity will count towards CAPE requirements.

The framework:

• explains how activities are assessed and recognised as CAPE-aligned
• supports consistent recognition of CAPE activities
• helps you plan CAPE activities with confidence before undertaking them

This reduces uncertainty and supports informed CPD planning.
